Recreational Therapy Graduate StudentAt — Los Angeles General Medical Center
This opportunity is only open to Recreation Therapy Graduate Students. The Recreation Therapy Student participates in a 17 week (680 hour) clinical internship work experience to develop skills in the practical application of Recreation Therapy principles, methods, and techniques under the direct supervision of a State and/or National Certified Recreation Therapist at Los Angeles General Psychiatric Services. The student will gain experience in adult and adolescent inpatient services, as well as exposure to acute inpatient med surg and ED services provided by Recreation Therapy.

- Gain experience in working collaboratively within a team.
- Understand workflows, processes, and responsibilities relevant to the field.
Prior to working with patients, students will receive a one week orientation to the facility, departmental work flow, departmental documentation, and review of entry level information.
Student will receive online and in person safety instruction.
- Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
- CPR Certification
- Health Check/Screening (e.g. temperature screening, COVID-19 test)
- Must be 18 or older
- TB Test
- Vaccinations
- HIGH RISK: Health care services - Risk includes but not limited to: falling, needle sticks, medical exposure
- HIGH RISK: Students will be working with "behaviorally challenged" populations
- RISK: Physical Recreation - Risk includes but is not limited to: sprains, strains, bruises, gym equipment, falling
- SITE REQUIREMENT: Site prefers (or has had contact with) students from a particular major or academic program, or with specific coursework completed (If so, please indicate above Special Instructions).
- SITE REQUIREMENT: Students are not allowed to take pictures or video.
- SITE REQUIREMENT: Students will be asked to sign a confidentiality waiver.

Updated BLS CPR certification and updated vaccination record are needed. A live scan is usually completed by our facility's HR department. Students may also need to be fit tested for N-95 mask.
