Recreation Therapist InternAt — California Institute for Woman

Opportunity Summary 

The CIW Recreation Therapy Internship program is intended to provide students with an overview of the skills they need to work as a recreation therapy professional with adult female offenders in various settings, including EOP, MHCB, and PIP. Students will have the rare opportunity to obtain first-hand experience observing and participating in these mental health treatment areas inside the prison setting. Students will learn from certified Recreation Therapists who are dedicated to providing the best in patient care. Students will also be working with and learning from an Interdisciplinary Team, including Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers, nurses, and Custody Staff. Students will have weekly 1:1 supervision with a dually certified Recreation Therapist.
