Direct Patient Care VolunteerAt — Compassionate Care Hospice
If you have the ability to easily connect with others, especially older adults, then this may be a wonderful opportunity for you. Individuals will act as a 'friendly visitor" to patients in hospice and their families. This may entail reading, writing letters for patients, playing music, helping with small tasks or simply sitting by the patients bedside, while enjoying a lovely conversation. Many caregivers and patients alike can become isolated during this difficult time, so it is important to offer emotional support and kindness to the families. Sometimes you may just want to hold their hand and listen in those moments of silence. If you prefer instead, you can lighten the load for caregivers by running errands, or assisting in preparing a light meal. Volunteers are needed in private homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing homes, (wherever the patient may call home), located throughout Los Angeles County and Orange County. Making a difference in the life of a hospice patient is one of the most important things you can do in your life and I'll be with you at every step of this wonderful learning experience.
