Organization Description

SeniorServ's mission is to nourish the wellness, purpose, and dignity of seniors and their families in our our community. SeniorServ is the largest nutrition and aging services provider in Orange County. We serve more than 2,000 older adults a day who are at risk for food insecurity, isolation and depression, with 70% below the senior poverty level.

Our impact includes reduced hospitalizations, improved health, increased well-being, and greater connections to friends and neighbors. Services include Meals on Wheels, Case Management and In-home services; Senior Center lunch programs; Adult Day Health Care Centers, and Friendly Visitors. 

Health & Safety

Students will be working directly with seniors at our sites, however they will be supervised by staff. For students completing short-term volunteer service projects (10 hours or less) they will not need additional screening, beyond a volunteer application. However, students interested in a longer term internships (80-120 hours) will need to be interviewed, background checked and have a TB test, before being placed.   

Applicants will be disqualified if one or more of the following appear on the background check: Any felony/ Alleged or convicted theft/ Embezzlement or any financial crime/ Any sexually related crime /Alleged or convicted crimes involving physical harm to another **Excessive traffic violations, DUIs, and/or recent suspension of Drivers License will also disqualify an applicant from Meals on Wheels and/or other transportation related volunteer tasks.
