LAANE's Tourism Workers Rising CampaignAt — Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy (LAANE)
We are looking for students who are passionate about community organizing and getting policy passed in the City of Los Angeles. Our proposed policy would raise the living wage for airport and hotel workers to $25/hour immediately, $30/hour by the 2028 Olympics, and ensure that tourism workers have access to quality health care. Joining us would mean joining us for in person actions/rallies/pickets and joining us for phone banking our community partners and research among other things. This is best suited for students who live in Los Angeles and can do both virtual and in person work.
How community with the help of our union partners can introduce, advocate and WIN policy proposals in the city of Los Angeles. The ins and outs of doing phone banking, LAANE's turnout call process and how to plan and execute actions. How to do strategic research for a campaign.
Beginning of the semester we will do a training on the campaign so everyone feels confident in how to explain the campaign to others. Each shift we will have a quick training on new activities that we are doing.
