The opioid epidemic and drug overdose crisis continue to pose significant public health challenges in the United States. Nearly 108,000 people died from drug overdoses in 2022, with approximately 82,000 (76%) of those deaths involving opioids. Youth have experienced persistently elevated overdose death rates in recent years, emphasizing the urgent need for targeted prevention measures that expand access to overdose prevention resources like naloxone and fentanyl test strips.
