Remote Opportunity: Community Service Learning PlacementAt — YMCA of Greater Long Beach Community Development
The Community Development YMCA has the capacity to fulfill CSULB students' internships requirements for graduation. Internships are available to those students in the following fields: Education, Art Education, Community Health, Sociology and Criminal Justice.
Opportunity Learning Outcomes:
- Students will have a better understanding on how to engage communities of color and newcomer immigrant communities.
- Development organizational skills in planning community events, by engaging a diverse community of non-profits who provide direct social services.
- Best practice youth development strategics to engage youth and teens to provide opportunities for academic success, creative expression and pathways to post-secondary education.
- Will learn how to develop engaging, impactful curriculum/trainings that meets the diverse needs of youth, teens, adults and parents
Opportunity Training:
Students will be able to shadow staff to learn the various skills needed. Students will have the opportunity to participate and be certified in Youth & Adult Mental Health First Aid.

On-site: COVID safety protocols (wellness checks, face masks, face shields). Supervision by YMCA staff in specific program areas: youth/teens, adults, newcomer immigrants.
