Program Information

JusticeCorps is an innovative approach to providing equal access to justice. JusticeCorps recruits and trains university students annually to serve in California's overburdened legal self-help centers which specialize in family law, housing, landlord/tenant disputes, or small claims. Serve in person at a local courthouse. Benefits include: 1. Learn about complex legal procedures to apply the law to real cases. 2. Earn an educational award ($1,374.60 -$10,000) with AmeriCorps. 3. Provide a much needed service in LA. 4. Develop networking opportunities with supervisors and colleagues. 5. Gain professional experience & transferable life skills by working with self-represented litigants. 6. Earn course credit.

Health & Safety

Each JusticeCorps member will be assigned to a specific courthouse location. They will be supervised by a Principal Attorney and other staff attorneys. The member will check in at the start of each day and submit their work to a supervising attorney who will provide feedback and answer any question the student may have. The supervising staff will also mentor our students to learn more about the legal content and their career /professional development.
