Organization Description

We are committed to providing a world-class preschool education to children living in underserved areas within the City of Long Beach.

Program Information

Un Mundo de Amigos (UMDA) offers free-to-low-cost full-day child care services (6.5 hours+) and free half-day child care services (3.5 hours). UMDA maintains a maximum class size of 24 students with a child-to-teacher ratio of 8:1. We offer a dual language program, with 60% of instruction provided in English and 40% in Spanish. In addition to our core curriculum, UMDA offers additional supports to serve both children and their families. To assist families facing other challenges, we connect them to resources related to domestic violence, mental health, trauma therapy, crisis prevention, immigration services, job training, parenting education, and more. Additionally, we provide services related to special needs, nutrition and health. We also regularly assess children in our program to gauge their readiness for kindergarten and track their development in areas such as language and communication, physical ability, behavioral and emotional self-regulation, social skills and problem-solving skills.

Health & Safety

We serve children from 3-5 years of age.
