Artesia Christian Home Skilled Nursing Facility

Students will work with Residents 65 years and older residing in a skilled nursing facility who require 24-hour nursing care. Our Resident have physical disabilities, may be recovering from hospitalization with rehabilitation, or have mental and behavioral disorders usually related to Dementia or Alzheimer's Disease. Many use wheelchairs for their primary locomotion.

Interns are not allowed to feed the residents or provide any direct care. DRESS CODE: comfortable, clean, and neat, toe covered shoes with back. Sweats, baggy clothes, short shorts or skirts, sheer clothing, inappropriate graphics, and/or wording on clothes are NOT permitted. Do not lift or try to transfer residents from their wheelchairs. Always notify a staff member if you see anything that could be considered UNSAFE. We do appreciate you being on time and coming when you have been scheduled. Do not come in if you are ill. Please remember, this is the resident’s home and we need to treat it as such. Please knock on their doors before entering. Always let them know you are there and introduce yourself by name and title. Student will be working directly with and reporting to the Associate Director of Social Services in the Social Services office. They will also be working with the facility's Social Service Designee.
