Athena Athletic Incorporated

Organization Description

Athena Athletic's mission is to provide youth opportunities to develop athletic skills and fundamentals in a positive, structured environment free of cost barriers. Athena Athletic is committed to removing cost barriers associated with athletic training for youth and providing all youth the opportunity to experience the joy and benefit of sports.

Health & Safety

Students may work with minors under 18 through Athena Athletic’s youth sports, mentorship, and community programming. Interns will not be left alone with minors and will be supervised by Athena Athletic staff/leadership during program activities. Interns may assist with program coordination, youth engagement, attendance, communications, and supervised activity support. Athena Athletic will require appropriate conduct expectations, site/program orientation, and any necessary youth safety, mandated reporter, background check, or volunteer training required by CSULB, the host site, or Athena Athletic before student participation.

Background checks may be required for students who participate in direct youth-facing activities or have regular interaction with minors.

Students will be supervised by Athena Athletic leadership/staff for more than 50% of their internship activities. Supervision may include direct oversight during youth program planning, regular check-ins, task review, training/orientation, and guidance for administrative, outreach, communications, and program support responsibilities. Students will not be left unsupervised during any youth-facing activities (if in attendance).
