Organization Description

Dirtbags California, more than just a motorcycle shop, reinforces “the sky is the limit” as we envision a world where every young person, regardless of background, has access to career-building opportunities. Dirtbags provides a safe, creative space for young people who have experienced academic disengagement, suspension, or social marginalization. Through mentorship, hands-on skills development, and community projects, Dirtbags empowers youth to explore meaningful academic and career pathways while fostering a sense of belonging. We strive to empower the next generation to overcome obstacles, unlock their potential, and shape meaningful futures.

Program Information

Position: Curriculum Development & Community Engagement Intern
• Curriculum Assessment: Review and evaluate existing curriculum to identify gaps, strengths, and opportunities for improvement based on participant needs.
• Curriculum Development: Assist in designing and updating curriculum tailored to individuals ages 18–30, ensuring content is relevant, engaging, and aligned with workforce readiness and life skills.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with staff, community partners, and participants to gather feedback and insights that inform curriculum development and program direction.
• Participant-Centered Approach: Support the creation of inclusive and accessible materials that reflect the lived experiences of individuals facing barriers such as limited access to education, employment, or stable resources.
• Collaboration & Teamwork: Work closely with team members on shared projects, contributing to a supportive and mission-driven work environment.
• Program Support: Assist with the implementation of curriculum updates and support ongoing program activities as needed.

This internship is hybrid. The majority of student intern work would be accomplished Monday-Friday. Students should complete 7-10 hours a week, work (e.g. meetings, curriculum development) can be completed remotely.
