Opportunity Summary 

WSLB recognizes domestic violence as a social problem affecting individuals, families, and society as a whole. Until the problem of domestic violence is eliminated, WSLB will support victims and children in their efforts to survive by offering a full range of supportive services, including emergency shelter. WSLB will provide services to all people regardless of race, religion, age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or resident status. WSLB will advocate for legislative change to improve conditions for survivors of domestic violence. WSLB seeks a compassionate and enthusiastic individual who has excellent communication and organization skills. The ideal candidate has previous experience working with domestic violence victims and demonstrates a real interest in working with disadvantaged populations. Students majoring in a related field, such as human service, psychology, women’s studies, are preferred.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes:

  • Update and maintain WSLB’s social media presence, including scheduling Facebook updates
  • Assist in planning, writing and managing WSLB’s newsletters
  • Draft media related stories
  • Design flyers, graphics, e-vites, and other marketing material for major events hosted by WSLB
  • Pitch events and news to media outlets and work to generate coverage
  • Attend WSLB events, as well as other community events if necessary
  • Team player who is willing to assist and help as needed
  • Collaborating with staff on new ideas, direction, and venues for marketing and communications
  • Learn various Outreach presentations, including but not limited to:
    • Building Healthy Relationships
    • Sexual Assault
    • Bullying
