Opportunity Summary 

Would you love to work with freshwater aquatic species in rivers in the picturesque Central California Coast? The CDFW's Coastal Fisheries Team has an amazing opportunity for a highly motivated Intern looking to make a positive impact to conserve fisheries resources through steelhead population monitoring within the Big Sur Coast. Information collected will be used to assess whether steelhead populations are recovering or going extinct as well as to guide fisheries management and restoration planning. Examples of what we do: https://youtu.be/RCgUaNJ0qXs?si=mdG0zE5PiWmeOh5o The incumbent must be in good physical condition, engage in strenuous activity, hike long distances up steep terrain, be required to occasionally lift heavy objects (over 40 pounds), be knowledgeable about power and hand tool use and maintenance, work in adverse weather conditions, travel occasionally, work more than 8 hours a day occasionally.
