Encompass Community Services, the largest provider of health and human services in Santa Cruz County, provides a wide range of services related to family & social wellbeing, early childhood education, behavioral health, housing, and more. Program Information

 

Recruitment activities in community events, developing recruitment materials including videos.

Support/assist recruitment activities and efforts, work with field staff and plan parent meetings, strengthen and build on referral partnerships, develop consistency and support families during intake process, as well as data entry on enrollment notes (case management).

 

The SW opportunitiy for CHHS student/s will work in Head Start Family Service Department, to assist families and provide additional family support services in the Watsonville and/or Santa Cruz areas. Students may work at various Head Start sites and conduct home visits with other agency staff as part of case management services provided by the agency. Intern will have opportunity to attend Family Service Worker and Home visitor meetings/trainings related to family services or health as well as training in Second Step, a violence prevention program. Intern activities may include: organizing resources to support social service staff in their work,  curriculum developement,implementation of nutrition/physical activity program, and have opportunity to develop and present parent training to Head Start Parents on a variety of health or community service topics.

 

The PANM opportunity at Head Start is interning with the ERSEA/Technology Coordinator completing the following learning activities:

Collaboration/effective professional communication with agencies outside Encompass Head Start
Serving families one-on-one
Application process and determining eligibility
assist in outreach plan for the program
participate in a variety of recruitment activities
Record keeping and reporting
implement special projects
