Organization Description

At Community Bridges our mission is to deliver essential services, provide equitable access to resources, and advocate for health and dignity across every stage of life. Since 1977, Community Bridges has been a catalyst for a brighter future by providing basic resources for the people of Santa Cruz County. Our family of ten vital programs across 20 different sites serves thousands of local children, families, and seniors each year. While each program is remarkable on its own, together we are unstoppable.

Program Information

General Description of what students will be doing at this Site: 

CACFP is part of the Community Bridges family of programs. CACFP provides reimbursement for meals and snacks served to small groups of children receiving day care in private homes that are licensed, registered, or approved to provide family child care. CACFP targets higher levels of reimbursement to low-income areas, and to day care providers and children most in need. The reimbursements make the cost of day care more affordable for many lower income families. For more information visit: www.fns.usda.gov/cacfp/family-day-care-homes.

Key Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Program Director, interns will create outreach and recruitment material for licensed day care home providers currently not participating in the CACFP. Outreach material will target low-income areas, and family day care providers and children most in need. Interns will also help promote our online claiming software to currently enrolled participants.

Desired Intern Characteristics: Computer Literacy Bilingual/biliterate preferred Previous experience w/outreach and recruitment a preferred 

We have monthly staff trainings that interns can attend.
