Public Space

Organization Description

Public Space is an independent, contemporary project space located in historic Salinas Chinatown that aims to foster new ideas and experiences, support artistic exchange and development, and inspire a larger community of cultural entrepreneurs. Consisting of a main gallery, artist studios, and artist-in-residency space, our mission is to promote cultural activities that support a wide-range of contemporary art practices, mentorship, reciprocal community engagement, and dialogue that honors cultural history as well as the needs of today. Public Space is a direct affiliate of Moon Gate Plaza and MidPen Housing.

Program Information

Through digital and public artworks, students will aid in our mission to promote cultural activities that support a wide-range of contemporary art practices, mentorship, reciprocal community engagement, and dialogue that honors the cultural history of Salinas' Chinatown. As a Direct affiliate of Moongate Plaza and Midpen Housing, Public Space is committed to the fostering of new ideas and experiences, supporting artistic exchange and development, and inspire a larger community of cultural entrepreneurs. Students will work with and develop skills in digital arts, photography, digital video and editing, website design and production, and public performance.
