Program Information Interim Inc. is offering seven opportunities for internships in the coming year. Most programs are open to either second or third year interns, depending on your skills and specific interests. All programs offer weekly supervision with a licensed clinical social worker and all programs offer a $ 100/month stipend.
Interim, Inc. is the only agency in Monterey County that provides affordable housing, residential treatment, social support, homeless outreach and support, and supported education and employment services for adults who have serious mental illnesses.

Below is a list of the Interim Programs now accepting CSUMB MSW Interns.
CHOICES DAY TREATMENT INTENSIVE PROGRAM/SALINAS
Choices is a community-based, person-centered, and trauma-informed full-day treatment intensive program for clients who are diagnosed with a serious mental illness. The program is structured as a therapeutic milieu and includes daily groups, individual therapy, along with adjunctive therapies for physical and social health, case management and community resource outings.
KEEP IT REAL/SALINAS, MARINA
Keep It Real is an outpatient Harm Reduction psychotherapy and social rehabilitation program for adults with co-occurring serious mental illness and substance use disorders.
Program services include skills-building groups, group therapy, process groups, trauma-informed care, client-centered treatment plan development, and adjunctive therapies.
The program aims to assist adults with developing the recovery skills needed to successfully reintegrate into the community.
SHELTER COVE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING/MARINA
Shelter Cove is a 39-bed supportive transitional housing program which provides safe, affordable, and supportive housing for homeless adults with serious mental illness.
Program services include strengths-based individual and group skill building, case management, community meetings, community outings, and peer-led groups.
ASSERTIVE COMMUNITY TREATMENT/SALINAS/SOUTH COUNTY (Bilingual Required)
The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Program is a Full-Service partnership with outreach and intensive services, targeting Latino clients in Salinas and South County.
The ACT team brings community-based mental health services and medication support services to consumers who are underserved and unable to effectively access or effectively utilize clinic-based treatment to meet their mental health needs.
ACT assists consumers with their mental health recovery process and developing the skills necessary to lead independent or interdependent, healthy, and meaningful lives in the community. This program increases natural support systems by engaging, offering support, supporting, and providing mental health information to consumers’ family members.
MANZANITA HOUSE – CRISIS RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM /MONTEREY
Manzanita House is a short-term crisis program that offers Interim and Monterey County Behavioral Health clients, who are experiencing acute psychiatric distress, a homelike community-based alternative to an inpatient hospital.
Manzanita Houses are located in residential areas in two locations in Monterey & Salinas.
The programs provide 24-hour residential treatment that is based on the principles of social rehabilitation.
THE WELLNESS AND RECOVERY ACADEMY DAY REHABILITATION PROGRAM/MARINA
The Wellness & Recovery Academy is certified by the State of California Department of Healthcare Services as a Full Day, Day Rehabilitation Program, serving consumers with serious mental illnesses and substance use disorders.
Program services include skills-building groups, group therapy, community meetings, process groups, therapeutic milieu, service plan development, community outings, and adjunctive therapies.
MCHOME HOMELESS OUTREACH AND SUPPORT PROGRAM/Salinas
The MCHOME Program is a Full-Service Partnership (“FSP”), which provides wrap-around services, and outreach for adults with a psychiatric disability who are homeless or at high risk of homelessness.
The purpose of the program is to assist adults with mental illness to move off the street into housing and employment and/or on benefits through outreach, assessments, intensive case management services, mental health services, and assistance with daily living skills.
All programs will pay a monthly stipend of at a minimum of $1000/year.

housing for adults living with mental health disabilities in Monterey County. We offer six cooperative group houses where residents have private bedrooms and share common living areas. We also offer 73 studio and one-bedroom apartments and two 2-bedroom units. All residents in community housing have leases and length of stay is unlimited if the resident maintains the terms of the lease. Residents are responsible for their own cleaning, cooking and laundry.
Community Housing's supportive services include case management and mental health assistance. Staff assess client needs, develop individual treatment plans, refer residents to other agency and community resources, teach daily-living and social skills, perform crisis intervention, facilitate individual and group counseling, and organize social activities.
Shelter Cove
Shelter Cove is a transitional housing program for 36 homeless adults living with psychiatric disabilities. Located in Marina, the two-year program is designed to help residents learn the skills they will need to successfully transition to independent living.
Shelter Cove staff provide case management and mental health services to residents. Daily groups are also available to residents who are in need of additional support.
