Monterey Bay Charter School

Organization Description

Monterey Bay Charter School is a member of the Alliance for Public Waldorf Education serving students on the peninsula for 20 years. We are a well-loved school with a great community of students and staff. We strongly welcome having CSUMB interns each year and they historically become an integral part of our counseling team.

Program Information

Monterey Bay Charter School is a dynamic & small TK-8 public charter school setting. Clinical Interns are an integral part of our Counseling Team. We strive to be a fun, hands on learning setting where interns have a lot of respect, independence and their clinical creativity is highly supported. The school is "Waldorf-inspired" where community, art, nature and emotional growth are emphasized. Interns have a lot of diverse responsibilities and learning opportunities, including providing 1:1 counseling support for students with special needs, facilitating small group counseling sessions, conflict resolution with students, active participation in team meetings, home visits, researching and providing community referrals, and creating and implementing classroom-based social emotional learning opportunities.
We are a tight knit counseling program with respected clinicians who welcome the input, learning and teaching opportunities of having CSUMB interns! This placement is ideal for second year CSUMB students with excitement about growing their skills as a school social worker and first year CSUMB interns who are curious about school social work. We accept several interns each year into our program in order to create a dynamic counseling team and inspire enriching learning opportunities.
