Organization Description

Behavioral Health provides mental health and substance abuse treatment for individuals and families in San Benito County. Invididual and group therapy, medication support services available.

Program Information

Depending upon previous experience, training opportunities will include: Case management/linkage, interpretation of therapy services, conduct intake assessments, facilitate groups at the wellness center, provide individual, family and group therapy, engage in crisis response, learn MediCal documentation, utilize electronic record system. Our small county setting allows for extensive expertise gained from various opportunities. This multidisciplinary setting allows interns to learn from psychiatrists, nurses, clinicians and case managers. Interns may also have the opportunity to interface with other county staff such as substance abuse counselors, CPS social workers, public health workers and probation officers. One hour of individual supervision provided per week. Stipend of $9.00/hr.

The position available would include the following tasks: intake assessments, managing a small caseload of 6 to 8 clients in which the intern would provide individual and family therapy as well as treatment planning, and group work (if possible). All information is submitted via an electronic health record.

Health & Safety

Like any other county outpatient mental health and substance abuse clinic setting, general health risks are involved with this population due to overall health concerns.
Shoes should be comfortable and close toe. Recommended minimal jewelry. Other safety precautions can be discussed during the orientation.
