BLUeDNA Institute

Organization Description

BLUeDNA Institute is a nonprofit scientific research organization that engages the dive community in documenting marine biodiversity through environmental DNA (eDNA) sampling. Our mission is to create open-access biodiversity datasets that support conservation and marine resource management. Through field research, technology development, education, and community partnerships, BLUeDNA works to improve biodiversity monitoring and expand access to cutting-edge molecular tools for scientists, governments, and local communities.

Health & Safety

Some projects may involve work in coastal and marine environments. Potential hazards include slippery surfaces, uneven terrain, surf and wave action, changing weather conditions, and other environmental conditions associated with fieldwork near the ocean. Field activities are planned with appropriate safety considerations and supervision. Students may also assist with laboratory processing using standard, non-hazardous research supplies and equipment.
