Just Like a Mom
'Just Like a Mom' seeks to employ and partner with women who can relate to the culture of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) students and their families. We understand that one's racial assignment, a social construct, does not mitigate one's ability to experience another's dominant culture and to be able to meet the needs of underserved students and their families.
I would not say this is a safety consideration, but it should probably be noted that the communities that Ara's serves are by design underprivileged and may be uncomfortable for students either unfamiliar or uninterested in working in urban communities which are at times, not the safest. With the return of school, students will be expected to work at the school site with very limited, if at all, home visits to families if this information is useful.
- Background Check (e.g. fingerprinting/livescan, driving record)
- TB Test
Hours are generally during the school day. Students will be off during all major holidays and schools specific days like teacher work days. Students can be on site from 8am - 6pm depending upon the site and expectations development when the contract was established. Wicondra would need to specify the expected hours per site.
