Organization Description

Mission Statement: The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians, a federally recognized Indian tribe, will protect and enhance the quality of life of its members by preserving, protecting and promoting its history, culture and traditions; promoting self-sufficiency and a strong work ethic; exercising the powers of self-government and sovereign immunity; while providing social, health, economic and educational resources, opportunities and services that contribute to the well-being of the tribal community. TANF Purposes: 1. Provide assistance to needy families so that children can be cared for in their own homes 2. Reduce the dependency of needy parents by promoting job preparation, work and marriage 3. Prevent and reduce the incidence of out-of-wedlock pregnancies 4. Encourage the formation and maintenance of two parent families

Program Information

To support Native American families becoming self-sufficient, this will include research, macro/micro management, extending services to the youth population as well such as education advocate/support if requested with IEP, 504 plans etc, leadership opportunities such as hosting/attending diverse trainings/workshops, intervene with youth education environment/connections and evaluate/implement constituencies for client to achieve practice goals.
