Wellspring Women's Center
Wellspring Women's Center is a nondenominational, nonprofit organization founded in 1987 by two sisters of social service with the mission to nurture the innate goodness and personal self esteem of women and their children. It offers a nutritious breakfast meal, mental health counseling, referrals for needed services, and more.
Students will work with hot foods and may need to walk upstairs during their service learning. Wellspring serves a diverse population, including individuals who use illegal substances and who suffer from mental illness.
The population of women Wellspring serves identify as 54% Latinx and 31% African-American. All are experiencing economic hardship. 58% earn less than $5,000 a year. 24% are homeless and 59% report they have experienced episodes of homelessness in the past two years. Many are struggling with trauma, addiction, and/or domestic violence. Wellspring Women’s Center serves as a refuge and a source of hope for all who walk through our doors.
