Organization Description

Wellspring Women's Center is a nondenominational, nonprofit organization founded in 1987 by two sisters of social service with the mission to nurture the innate goodness and personal self esteem of women and their children.  It offers a nutritious breakfast meal, mental health counseling, referrals for needed services, and more.
 

Program Information

Wellspring Women’s Center is a drop-in center in the Oak Park community of Sacramento, established in 1987. Wellspring Women’s Center’s mission is to nurture the innate goodness and personal self-esteem of women and their children. Our drop-in center provides respite services based on “hospitality with dignity and love.” We are open weekday mornings from 8:30am-11:30am. We are open by appointment in the afternoon for counseling, case-management and scheduled groups.

Health & Safety

Students will work with hot foods and may need to walk upstairs during their service learning. Wellspring serves a diverse population, including individuals who use illegal substances and who suffer from mental illness.
 

The population of women Wellspring serves identify as 54% Latinx and 31% African-American. All are experiencing economic hardship. 58% earn less than $5,000 a year. 24% are homeless and 59% report they have experienced episodes of homelessness in the past two years. Many are struggling with trauma, addiction, and/or domestic violence. Wellspring Women’s Center serves as a refuge and a source of hope for all who walk through our doors. Any woman and child is welcome at Wellspring – no questions asked, no paperwork to fill out, no eligibility requirements. All our services are provided free of charge.
