Progressive Employment Concepts

Organization Description

Progressive Employment Concepts is a 501(c)3 nonprofit vendered by Alta California Regional Center to provide employment and community inclusion services to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). We also contract with Alexander Twilight Aspire Charter School to provide transition services to students aged 18-22. Our focus is on customized employment, providing community services from a strengths based perspective.

Program Information

Depending on skill level and personality traits, we will ask students to engage in a variety of activities. We would like them to work directly with our clients in activities including community building, Discovery- our version of biopsychosocial and skills assessments, and employment maintenance and development. There will also be opportunities for both individual and legislative advocacy, grant writing, resource development, and benefits management including Social Security, SNAP, and housing as it relates to work and earnings.

Health & Safety

Driving is required for much of the duties performed, so being a safe driver is important. Some of our clients require personal care support during their day- training will be provided specific to the situation. If the state of emergency related to the Covid-19 pandemic is still in effect at the time we take interns, they must follow our safety protocol and will have a limited bubble of people they come into contact with in person.

Schedules are built around what's best for the client, so an intern interested in a flexible schedule is ideal but not required. Students will be assigned a limited case load based on their skills, experience, and learning objectives and will have the ability to build a schedule that suits both them and their clients' needs.
