Program Information

Our Prevention Supports and Services Department offers field placements for students interested in working in a Wellness Center within Placer County. Our Wellness Centers are integrated on school campuses (K-12) and offer a range of services and supports to students and families. An intern in the Wellness Center would play a vital role in supporting students' mental and emotional well-being. Their tasks would include assisting students who are taking a wellness break, ensuring they feel comfortable and supported during their time away from class. The intern would also help connect students to appropriate resources, whether academic, mental health related, or community based to promote their overall success. They would assist in assessing students to determine their need for therapeutic services, providing initial screenings and recommendations. Additionally, interns would have the opportunity to help support Wellness staff in running groups, providing individual therapy, and participating in Tier 1 activities around campus. This field placement offers valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic and supportive environment focused on student well-being.
