The Root

Students are expected to complete 40 hours of service-learning at the partner site. While on-site, students will
engage directly with children and caregivers. Students will support activities and programming offered at the
site (e.g., storybook reading, facilitating individual and small group activities with children, creating activities
to engage children and visitors, etc.). As students learn the needs of the community, they will apply human
development theory and research to design, implement, and evaluate a service-learning project that
addresses a community need.
