Redwood Institute of Social Research

Organization Description

Redwood Institute of Social Research (RISR) specializes in rigorous and ethically conscientious research consultation working in collaboration with public/private social service and mental health care providers in rural Northern California. Services include community-focused needs assessments, client-centered program development, and program evaluation. RISR also provides hands-on learning opportunities through higher-educational research mentorships to increase the skills of macro-focused social workers, sociologists, and social scientists aimed at improving social determinants of health.

Program Information

Interns support various projects within RISR dependent on focus area. Interns' tasks and projects will be assigned based on requirements from school and the Intern Supervisor will work individually to develop a plan for the duration of the internship.

Hours of operation 

RISR is a remote-first company and the vast majority of our work is completed remotely/online. This requires a computer, reliable internet, and computer literacy. Most team meetings occur on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings. While flexibility in setting a regular work schedule is permitted, your task supervisor and/or the PI must be available during your shifts.
