Organization Description

The Center for Indigenous Peoples Studies [CIPS] is the primary site for innovative programs for the study of American Indians and local, national and international Indigenous Peoples. The CIPS programs involves CSUSB faculty, students and administrators, partnerships with Native Nations [Tribes] in the region and nationally, and strong connections with Indigenous Peoples throughout the Americas and the world, many currently in contact with Center personnel and the university.

Dr. James Fenelon, Director of CIPS, is currently negotiating with AIHEC. AIHEC Mission: AIHEC is the collective spirit and unifying voice of our nation's Tribal Colleges and Universities [TCUs]. AIHEC provides leadership and influences public policy on American Indian higher education issues through advocacy, research, and program initiatives; promotes and strengthens Indigenous languages, cultures, communities, and tribal nations; and through its unique position, serves member institutions and emerging TCUs.
