Opportunity Summary 

Homework Helpers: Assist elementary age children with homework. Tutor individual or small groups of students to improve academic performance especially in reading or math. Be a mentor and positive presence while having fun! Shifts available Monday-Friday 3-5pm. 10 volunteers needed.

Youth and Young Adult Advocates: Create a warm and welcoming environment so youth and young adults at risk of homelessness will feel safe and accepted. You will provide assistance with basic needs (food, water, new clothing, hygiene products, access to shower and do laundry, etc.) and other resources. Shifts available Monday-Friday 10am-12pm and 12pm-2pm. 10 volunteers needed.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

Key Responsibilities

• Tutor elementary age students in basic math or literacy

• Provide private instruction to individual or small groups of students to improve academic performance • Collaborate with La Casita staff to determine student needs and develop tutoring plan

• Keep record on student learning plans and activity logs

• Enhance self-esteem and confidence in the student through patience and encouragement

• Models excitement about learning through a positive adult relationship

Opportunity Training 

On the job training from supervisor and check in's to ensure student feels comfortable providing after school homework help.
