One Safe Place Family Justice Center provides free confidential assistance for victims of abuse. Placement in this learning service opportunity provides student exploration into the work of advocacy and services to victims of abuse. Service-learning opportunities will include working with partner agencies, attending trainings, supporting work of OSP staff, specific project assignment, outreach, training support, administrative duties, and other activities.
Understanding trauma informed care, develop understanding of cycles of violence and control, gain experience in advocacy through projects, trainings, and supportive services (food pantry, clothing, child watch, outreach, training, etc).
Training will include virtual mandated reporting for children and older adults, trauma informed care, domestic violence, and other trainings to support understanding abuse and services for victims of abuse.
A background check is required prior to start of service learning opportunity. Onboarding will include safety briefing.
