The San Diego River Park Foundation

Organization Description

The San Diego River is rich in history and ecological value. Our vision is to protect and enhance these valuable resources, encourage communities to embrace this legacy, and celebrate the River with the creation of a park system the length of the river.

Health & Safety

Many of our internships are field internships - they might require lifting heavy materials, working with pesticides, walking long distances, and more. Before going into the field they are given a safety talk on all these possibilities.

With some of our internships, students may come upon those experiencing homelessness in the riverbed. Students are NEVER alone in the riverbed and are always with a site or intern leader. They are trained with a non-confrontational approach.
