Aging and Disabled Adult Social Services InternshipAt — Stanislaus County - CSA - Adult Programs
The Aging and Disabled Adult Social Services Interns in APS and/or IHSS function as a geriatric care manager for frail, often socially isolated elders or persons with disabilities, receiving services from Stanislaus County APS or IHSS. The Intern Case Manager evaluates the potential client as a total person and identifies the functional limitations that impede independent living. He/she plans, provides and coordinates a wide range of services to assist clients in avoiding out of home placement and to remain living independently and safely as possible.
Students will receive training via online training modules, webinars, shadowing a mentor, one-one-one instruction, and regular assignments from the Field Instructor or Task Supervisor. Students will also receive weekly supervision meetings.
Interns will be going into the field, which means the homes of clients, our out in the community, for example, if they are in a hospital. There is an online training called, "APS Field Safety Training", which all students will take. Interns will also be accompanied by mentors through much of the first semester.
