Carnegie Arts Center Foundation
The Carnegie Arts Center, housed in the historic Carnegie Library and a new addition that opened to the public in 2011, is one of only a handful of art centers in the region. The Carnegie's programs include exhibitions, education classes and programs, lectures, and activities in artistic genres as diverse as dance, music, theater, film, design, poetry and more. At least 25% of all programming is dedicated to children and teens. The Carnegie Arts Center Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.
Volunteers assist with customer service, gallery supervision, and special events on an ongoing basis. Interns may be assigned special projects in education, exhibitions, PR/marketing, or event planning based on interest and qualifications. With training, volunteers may serve as docents/tour guides for school field trips.
All volunteers must attend an orientation session, held the 4th Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. After that, special training is provided for specific duties and responsibilities as needed. Docents must participate in a 6 week training class and additional 2 hours of training prior to each exhibition.
