Organization Description

An Insightful Journey (AIJ) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization on a mission to C.A.R.R.E. (pronounced care) for underserved and marginalized populations by uplifting their stories to support health and well-being. AIJ envisions a world where health equity is advanced through storytelling and creative, community-driven initiatives. AIJ’s values, represented by C.A.R.R.E., are Collaboration, Advocacy, Resource-sharing, Research, and Education.

Program Information

MSW students at An Insightful Journey (AIJ) will engage in community-centered, macro-informed social work practice focused on health equity. Student activities include supporting community storytelling and creative initiatives; assisting with qualitative data collection, documentation, and analysis; contributing to research-informed advocacy efforts; and supporting the development of trainings, educational materials, and community reports. Students may assist with community outreach, partnership coordination, and ethical engagement with underserved populations using trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approaches. Additional responsibilities include reflective journaling, participation in supervision, and integration of social work theory, ethics, and policy into practice activities. Learning opportunities emphasize collaboration, systems-level thinking, community voice, and the translation of lived experience into actionable insights for practice and advocacy.
