Program Information As with most start-up businesses, entrepreneurs discover a need and devise a way to meet that need. That was no different with Majestic Pet Products. In 1994, brothers Jim & John Otto met with a friend who had just returned from a trip to Santa Barbara and brought back a collar with a cool pattern for his dog. It was that meeting that first lead to the idea selling innovative patterned dog collars and leashes. The brothers were intrigued by the idea. They sourced some material, created some samples, and then tested the products at 6 local pet stores. After all six stores sold through their inventory in one week, the Otto brothers knew they were onto something. This lead to more pet stores in California and the development of new products like pet beds.
