Program Information Rancho Santiago Community College District - Child Development Services (CDS) provide a superior learning environment for two generation of learners. As Santa Ana College and Santiago Canyon College???s lab schools, we prepare college students for a career in teaching young children by demonstrating theory in action and providing hands-on opportunities for practicum and observation in a high-quality early care and education setting. CDS is devoted to being a leader and partner in meeting diverse intellectual, sociocultural, and linguistic needs of educators and pre-professionals who aim to advocate and empower both children and families in the 21st century.Child Development Services also delivers high-quality early care and education that focuses on the whole child with a researched-based curriculum that is aligned to the State Preschool Learning Foundations to provide a learning continuum for our young learners. Individual goals are developed for each child based on the California child assessment results and parent input are reflected in daily lesson plans with learning activities to meet individual child and group goals. Feedback and progress are communicated to parents through at least two parent-teacher conferences per year and, in some cases, home visits.RSCCD???s Child Development Services prepares two generations of learners for life-long success.
