City of Eureka: Crisis Alternative Response Eureka

Program Information

Compassionately providing Eureka with community based, high-quality, easy-access mental health and substance use mobile crisis services.

CARE works with the Eureka Police Department, EPD’s Community Safety Engagement Team, and UPLIFT to ensure appropriate mental health crisis intervention and treatment are available within the community. The program’s team includes mental health clinicians and case managers who respond to 9-1-1 calls that require mental health crisis intervention, as well as provide patient advocacy and support throughout the process of accessing mental healthcare to those who are in need of it. They also provide proactive engagement to members of the community determined to be at risk for requiring emergency services by community partners. CARE operates in collaboration with and independently of the Eureka Police Department to provide high-quality, low-barrier mental health services throughout the City of Eureka. The intention of this program is to reduce barriers to treatment for at-risk individuals and ensure treatment continues beyond the initial point of contact during crisis intervention.
