Fraternity House, Inc. - 24hr Care Home
The mission of Fraternity House, Inc. is to provide warm and caring homes where vulnerable persons disabled by HIV/AIDS can receive comprehensive care and services in order to rebuild their health and return to independent living, or where they can spend their last days in comfort and dignity.
Fraternity House and Michaelle House are residential homes for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Residents live in a home-like environment which provides 24-hour comprehensive care, support, and rehabilitation services.
Service Learning opportunities include:
- Visiting residents
- Assisting in resident outings / activities
- Help staff prepare meals
- House and landscape maintenance
- Assisting with special events/fundraisers
- Assist with administrative duties
- Assist with writing a grant
“Please note: This internship may present additional risks due to being in an area with elevated crime statistics and/or working with individuals who may have a criminal background. Increased situation awareness should be exercised and extra care and precautions for personal safety should be taken. Ensure that you meet with your site supervisor to understand the increased risk in completing your internship at this site, as well as the appropriate measures you can take to mitigate and/or respond to these risks. Your orientation at the site should also include a general site safety orientation.”
