Bay Area JusticeCorps

Organization Description

The Bay Area JusticeCorps Program is a court-based AmeriCorps program which recruits and trains college students and recent graduates to work with people who cannot afford attorneys. As a JusticeCorps member you will work one-on-one with litigants who are representing themselves in family law, housing, small claims and restraining order cases. Your work will help these litigants stabilize their housing and family situations, recover lost assets and prevent abuse. JusticeCorps Student-members commit to serve 8 hours a week for the fall, winter and spring quarters for a total of 300 hours. They receive an education award and have the opportunity to work closely with Lawyers and court professionals.  JusticeCorps Fellows are graduates who serve in the courts full-time. In addition to an education award they receive a living allowance and health insurance coverage. To learn more visit our website: www.bayareajusticecorps.org .
