Organization Description

The Department of Information Technology-DoIT (Contra Costa County) is a full service IT department consisting of Administration, Operations, Customer Service Center, Systems & Programming, Desktop and Network Services. DoIT also oversees county-wide programs such as: Information Security, Public Safety Radio System over the Countywide Microwave System, Telecommunications, Wide Area Network and GIS. We have staff available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to meet our customers' and citizens' needs. We use a combination of staff; in-house, outsourced and contractors, to provide technology services. We have set an internal goal of providing service that achieves a level of "excellence".

Program Information

The internship program at DoIT will expose students to a variety of projects and technologies that are used to enable County Government services. Depending on the internship selected, students can work on projects supporting cybersecurity, networking, GIS, application programming or Data Center. Students can also work directly with various County Departments to resolve Tier 1 computer issues related to PC's iMacs, peripherals, mobile devices and be a part of innovation teams for deploying new services. Other internship opportunities will expose students to project management, business analysis of systems and processes and policy development.
