Oakland Public Education Fund

Organization Description

The Ed Fund is the only organization raising money for all Oakland public schools. In the last five years, we have raised over $60 million for programs that help students thrive. We put the right tools in students’ hands to give all kids the excellent education they deserve. We support all Oakland public schools—both District-run and charter—with a focus on those furthest from opportunity, because kids who come to school with less need more. Learn more about our work on our website. Our Mission: The Oakland Public Education Fund leads the development and investment of community resources in Oakland public schools so that all students can learn, grow, and thrive.

Program Information

The Oakland Public Education clears and on boards all volunteers working in Oakland Unified School District schools. Once they complete the clearance process, student volunteers will be matched to an educator at an Oakland Unified School District school depending on their availability, skills, and interests. Educators request volunteer to support the following: Prepping materials for classes, Administrative support, Classroom Assistance, Tutoring students one-on-one (Math and/or Literacy), and Library Support. Most often, volunteers support educators and OUSD students by providing Classroom Assistance and/or individualized or small group tutoring.
