Organization Description

Black Organizing Project (BOP) is a Black, member led organization working for racial, social and economic justice through grassroots organizing and community building in the Bay Area. We are dedicated to reviving the spirit of Oakland's (and the greater Bay Area's) Black community through relationship building, leadership development, political education and policy-change.

Program Information

Internship opportunities aim to develop the leadership of students who have an interest and willingness to organize and interrupt the school to prison pipeline. Interns will be engaged through (and not limited): Community and relationship building; Arts, Culture and Political Education; Participatory community outreach and recruitment including: Door knocking, street outreach, phone banking, tabling; Attending and participating in school board meetings, school/community presentations, committee/delegation meetings; Data entry and filing; Meeting/event planning, co-facilitation and note taking; Participating in travel opportunities, if applicable; Participatory based research; Supporting communications needs including: Social media research, event documentation, public speaking and Assisting and supporting with other organizational needs
