Organization Description

Adopt & Shop Lakewood is part of the larger organization Michelson Found Animals, an animal welfare organization with the mission of "Saving pets. Enriching lives." Pets and people belong together, and Michelson Found Animals works to keep it that way through adoptions that connect pets to forever families, tools and tips that help keep them together, a national registry that helps lost pets get home, grants that empower local organizations, and a philosophy that embraces all people, just like pets do.

Program Information

Students may take up a variety of volunteer roles, including pet care providers (assisting guests and ensuring animals are cared for and comfortable), Spay4LA assistants (assisting with a mobile clinic offering low cost sterilizations in South LA), or office assistants (lending admin support or a professional skill set at our HQ).

Health & Safety

Working with animals, there is always a potential for injury (scratches, or even bites) , however we try our best to ensure volunteers' safety through proper education, dress code, and staff support. You will be working with cleaning/disinfecting chemicals that may cause damage to skin upon contact. Our dress code and use of gloves are meant to prevent this.
