WellCat Safe Place

Program Information

The mission of Safe Place is . . .
to support and advocate for victims and survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking through crisis intervention, prevention education, resources and referrals.

The student intern will gain unique opportunities to interact with the CSU, Chico campus community regarding issues of sexual and intimate partner violence, as well as stalking, harassment and hate crimes. Interns will gain micro, mezzo and macro experience through crisis intervention, outreach and prevention work and involvement in program development and evaluation. They will also be invited to participate on campus committees implementing policy and practice related to Title IX. 

The student intern should be/have: a self-starter, take initiative and personal responsibility for learning, willing to ask questions and ask for help, ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times, motivation and desire to learn and grown, uses healthy communication and models healthy relationships, creativity, ability to practice compassion with survivors of violence, flexibility, honesty and integrity, value for social justice and understanding of cultural influence on violence against women/femininity.
