Empower Tehama

Program Information

Empower Tehama is a domestic violence organization that seeks to promote healthy relationships and social change in our community. We offer a broad array of services to victims which include biopsychosocial assessments, therapy, case management, housing, advocacy, and legal support. We also offer a 52-week Batterer’s Intervention Program for both males and females. We have a Sexual assault response team consisting of specially trained advocates and nurses who respond to support SA victims and facilitate a forensic exam to aid in the prosecution of the perpetrator. We provide Teen Dating Violence education and prevention services in our local high school. Victims of domestic violence can participate in weekly survivor groups supported by a therapist. Additionally, we have a contract with a local group home to provide weekly life skills groups to clients with severe and persistent mental health issues.

BSW students will complete their practicum at our Housing Department (shelter/transitional housing). Students will complete intakes, provide referrals, provide crisis/supportive counseling & interventions, and advocacy. BSW students will participate in case management meetings and coordinate services with legal advocates, therapists, domestic violence advocates, and community partners.

MSW students will provide assessment, treatment planning, and therapy to an array of clients (from young children to adults). Students will also provide group services at a variety of places (homeless shelter, local board and care homes, and at Empower Tehama offices.
