Organization Description

The Tehama County Department of Social Services (TCDSS) has multiple assistance programs to provide families with cash aid (CalWORKs), Medi-Cal, Cal Fresh benefits (formerly food stamps), General Assistance, County Medical Services Program (CMSP), in addition to protecting our most vulnerable populations that include children, elderly, and disabled community members.

Program Information

The Adult Services Branch administers two distinct programs; Adult Protective Services and In-Home Supportive Services.

Adult Protective Services: Social Workers investigate and seek to correct situations of abuse and neglect. The Social Worker will offer the older or dependent adult a plan of services, using the least restrictive method of intervention.

In-Home Supportive Services provides assistance to eligible low-income aged, blind and disabled individuals (including children) who are unable to remain safely in their own homes without assistance. IHSS is an alternative to costly out-of-home care. Some of the services which can be authorized through IHSS are light house cleaning, meal preparation, laundry, grocery shopping, and personal care services such as feeding, bathing, dressing and accompaniment to medical appointments.
