Fitness InternAt — Oakwood Athletic Club
This position will give students the opportunity to get hands on experience in the fitness and training industry. You will be partnered with one of our personal trainers who will guide you though a typical training session, explain the purpose of exercise selection and/ or modifications, and answer any questions you may have during the session. Depending on the client, you may even get the chance to assist the personal trainer with exercise set ups. The student will also be asked to maintain the fitness floor by creating a safe and clean environment while providing exceptional customer service
At the end of this opportunity, students will have learned how a typical personal training session is conducted, how to set up and cue exercises, understand how to modify exercises that may be too easy or difficult for the client, understand how to take initial client measurements (i.e. waist-to-hip ratio, waist circumference, heart rate, BP) and how to observe dynamic posture (i.e. Overhead Squat Assessment, Pushing Assessment).
Job training which can include hands on training with customer service and fitness professionals.
Proper precautions should be taken as this is a gym with free weights and heavy equipment
