Opportunity Summary 

Challenge school is a NAEYC accredited Mandarin and English bilingual preschool and after school that has served Bay Area families since 2003. Our school nurtures creative learners in an unique bilingual learning environment. As our school grows, we are looking for volunteers, interns, or teachers who share our passion for providing quality Chinese language education and early childhood education.

Opportunity Learning Outcomes 

- Understand the developmental stages of children
- How to make sure activities are age appropriate
- How to encourage child initiated activities and creative projects
- How to allow the children to experiment and explore the materials
- How to Interact with the children using age appropriate language
- Learn about (but not limited to): high quality framework of QRIS, Mandarin immersion programs, observations, capturing evidence of learning, documentations, record keeping, DRDP/assessment tools, lesson planning, creative curriculum, project-based learning, ASQ-SE and ASQ-3 Questionnaires, communications and collaborations between teachers and students/families/parents/colleagues/community, professional growth/development and career opportunities, leadership skills

Opportunity Training 

The student will have an orientation from the supervisor to ensure they know and understand the responsibilities, policies, rules and practices at Challenge School.

Additional risk specific to this opportunity 

Students need to be fully vaccinated and wear mask at all times in the school (except for when eating and drinking and able to maintain social distance away from children or outside the classroom). Students should understand the risk of COVID exposures working at a school setting. Students should be comfortable for physical labor working with young children and be able to lift 30 lbs.
