When you join City Year, you work alongside a team to create learning environments where all students can succeed. As you earn a stipend, you help support students' social, emotional and academic development while providing schools with additional capacity to enhance learning and belonging.
By the end of this opportunity, students will have learned durable skill development (relationship building, persistence, demonstrating flexibility & adaptability, critical & analytical thinking, continuous improvement and self-accountability), agency (belief in ability to succeed, advocate for themselves, and make a difference in their communities) and identity formation (evolution of self-narrative about who they are as learners and leaders, and the meaning they’ve gained from their experiences).
BTA is a start-of-year on-boarding experience designed to help you learn more about City Year and the service you will be providing to the community, school and students. You’ll spend time building community with others, learning about City Year’s mission, culture and values and our approach to supporting student success.
Since students will be working with children we pay for their CPR certification. In addition, throughout the school year we provide trauma based and safety training.
